Founder & Group Managing Director | Hotpack Global
The Founder and Group Manager of the award-winning packaging solutions giant Hotpack Global, has led what was once a small trading company to becoming an industry leader.
Abdul Jebbar P B crafted a robust distribution network across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Malaysia and the US, while ensuring a steady manufacturing output through R&D investments.
His savvy business acumen drove him to start the company, with its novel product line, at just the right time to capture the regional market.
With 27 years of continuous growth to bank on, the packaging solutions and hygiene product company is on the cusp of yet another growth spurt that will trampoline it to the very top of the industry.
Packing Multiple Benefits Into A Single Company
Hotpack Global began with a single conversation between Abdul and his brother, Zainudeen. The idea of a company for packaging materials in the UAE floated up, and with the ability to recognise a good concept when he saw it, Abdul decided to start a trading business.
The pioneering company was the first to offer all packaging solutions under one roof as early as 1995 and ventured into a single stop for food packaging products and then to hygiene products, flexible products and labels soon after.
The quality of its products and superior client servicing elevated it to the undisputed leaders in the region within its first decade. In a pivotal move, Abdul began to reinvest in its manufacturing facilities, accelerating its growth and establishing backward integration.
Today, Hotpack Global boasts two household brands under its belt; I lotpack for packaging solutions and Soft n Cool hygiene products, while continuing to invest in its manufacturing facilities and R&D.
He also cultivated a vast array of specialised products that cater to packaging needs expressed by their clients in the travel, retail, food service, medical and shipping industries, among others.
Hotpack Global’s wide distribution network supports the company by making its products available to customers in 105 countries across the Middle East, the UK, North America, and Africa through the huge capacity for export.
An Ethical Part Of The Circular Economy
A notable accomplishment in Abdul’s early career was choosing to start the company at a time when the regional demand for environmentally sustainable products was poised to skyrocket. It was conceptualised with an awareness of the potential environmental impact of disposable packaging products.
It is thus a long time player in the circular economy, and Hotpack Global focuses a chunk of its R&D budget on recognising and designing innovative solutions around it, allowing for easier reusability and recycling.
Fast forward 27 years and the business has flourished into a thriving eco-friendly packaging solutions company with an international impact. Moreover, the future brings further expansion plans in the sustainable packaging line for Hotpack Global.
This will be through a Dh350 million multiple-phase investment deal in Malaysia that could potentially transform the nation into a leading biodegradable hub in Southeast Asia.
Bearing the company’s original concept in mind, it involves setting up the first ever, dedicated pulp and tableware factory in Malaysia that uses sustainable sources of raw materials like rice straw and husk.
The company’s uncompromising stance on ethical practices is reflected in its response to the Pandemic; subsidising the rates of their safety and hygiene products to improve public access to the necessities of the time.
Manufacturing Success
Hotpack Global maintains its high product standard through regular factory audits and guarantees consumer satisfaction through international and regional certification. This has given it an edge over competitors, which Abdul has finessed by expanding its facilities continuously.
On the local front, Dubai Industrial City is set to see the launch of a 600,000 sq. ft facility aimed at expanding the Group’s range of environmentally friendly products.
The modern, heavily automated space is expected to elevate the firm by matching world-class Industry 4.0 standards At National Industries Park, Dubai Hotpack recently opened its largest PET Manufacturing unit, spread over 500,000sq. ft. area.
It is this continuously upgraded and maintained growth that earned Hotpack Global the prestigious Dubai Smart Industry Award in 2020.
Looking to the future, the group is investing in new bases as part of its strategy to be one of the largest manufacturers of food packaging products in the world.
The expansion plans will focus on KSA, Jordan and Egypt within the MENA, alongside the UK, Europe, India, and the US. With Abdul’s savvy leadership, we can expect Hotpack Global to emerge as the leader of the packaging world by 2030.
